ABOUT THE FILM
The Limits of My World is a feature-length documentary following 21-year-old Brian Cassano as he ages out of the school system and transitions into adulthood. Brian has severe autism and faces the daily challenges of adjusting to his new life. Filmed from the intimate perspective of his older sister Heather, this documentary seeks to understand Brian's personality beneath his disability. The Limits of My World is an autistic coming of age story, exploring what it means to be a nonverbal disabled person in today's society.
THE FILMMAKERS
HEATHER CASSANO
Director, Producer, Cinematographer, Editor
Heather is an independent documentary filmmaker and the founder of Spin One Films. She makes films that examine human connections and interpersonal relationships. Heather blends an observational style with deeply personal narratives, striving to tell authentic stories through her personal experiences.
The Limits of My World is Heather’s first feature-length documentary. After premiering at IFF Boston in 2018, the film screened at numerous festivals internationally, winning three Best Documentary Awards and a Jury Prize. Heather is now working on her second feature documentary, The Fate of Human Beings.
When she’s not making films, Heather teaches film and video production at the University of Connecticut. She is also the Shorts Program Director of Salem Film Fest.
